Add Annotations with ScreenFlow

Instructor: [0:00] Click the annotations tab. Then click the plus button to add an annotation to our timeline. There's a number of different annotation shapes to choose from. For this example, we use the outline rectangle.

[0:13] Click and drag on your screen-recording to draw the annotation on the screen. You can use the handles to position and adjust the size and shape. To adjust when our annotation begins and ends, you can click and drag the handles. Our annotation will start at one second and end at three seconds.

[0:34] To fade our annotation in and out, move the play-head to the start of your annotation, click video, then add an action. Move your play head to the beginning of the action, and then reduce the opacity to zero percent. Our annotation will now fade in.

[0:50] To fade an annotation back out, move a play-head to the end of the annotation. Then use the actions menu to add a snap-back action. This'll fade an annotation pack out to zero percent.

[1:03] Lastly, we'll add some easing to give our animation to a more natural field by right clicking on each action and selecting your curve type. Let's play this and see how it looks. We added an annotation to our timeline by clicking the annotations tab, and then clicking in the plus button.

[1:21] We've selected the annotation shape we wanted and drew the annotation on the screen. We adjusted the start and end-position over annotation and then took it one step further, adding a fade-in and fade-out video action.
